I had the idea to make my first picture one of my family in chaos. Well, it shouldn’t be surprising that when real chaos ensues, no one has their cameras out. It’s not a pretty picture. Then I thought I’d be real fancy and ask AI to generator an image based on “family in chaos with children” as my prompt. It showed three children looking up happily at a fourth older child (or possibly a short parent). At first glance nothing unusual and certainly not chaotic. Until…a close look revealed the older child was holding a microphone in one hand, her second hand was over her heart, and her THIRD hand was reaching over to strangle one of the other children. Now we are getting somewhere!
Ha! It was too creepy to share. Lesson learned. So instead, I’ve posted the image of my three daughters that I decided to throw on a Christmas card mailer at the last minute a few years ago.
I have been a parent for nearly twenty years. I am no expert, but I’ve read a lot, I’ve experimented even more, and have learned from my mistakes. This blog will be a place where I share stories and lessons learned in hopes they help you in whatever parenting stage you may find yourself.
Well, I love a good metaphor and when it comes to family life, there are many metaphors (roller coasters, asylums, etc.). But, at the end of the day, family life isn’t easy. Sometimes it’s hard…like a diamond. And just like a diamond, it is complex and goes through a lot before it can sparkle. This blog will help you overcome the pressure of raising kids with humor, empathy, and wisdom. From navigating tricky toddler tantrums to parenting your adult children (yeh, you’re never really done) and everything in between, I am here to help you embrace the chaos and cherish the moments that make parenting worth it.
